Delores Juanico was born in
1969. She is the daughter of Marie S. Juanico who was her mentor.
Marie had learned pottery principals from her mother, Delores
Sanchez, who lived to the age of 103. Delores carries on the
tradition from her grandmother and mother of making the finest
in Acoma Pueblo pottery.
She specializes in miniature
versions of 19th century potteries and includes a date on the
bottom that refers to the estimated date of creation of the original.
Her painting is meticulous, and she is one of the last truly
traditional potters at Acoma who strictly adheres to natural
methods and materials.
