Clarissa Tafoya is an example
of a potter who has not had the advantage of being born into
a well known potting family yet has learned the craft well and
makes fine pottery despite her lack of famous relatives.
Clarissa was taught to pot
by her mother and grandmother, Rose Tafoya and Lucaria Tafoya,
respectively. She has been potting about 20 years and specializes
in carved redware of unusual shapes.
Recently (2001) she did acquire
a famous relative (albeit by marriage) when she wed Timothy Roller,
grandson of Margaret Tafoya and son of Toni Roller.
