Blue Corn (1921-1999) was
one of the greatest ceramists of all time. She made pottery for
almost 70 years. Her house was located across from that of Maria
Martinez but there was no competition between the two artisans.
Maria specialized in Black-on-black pottery, and Blue Corn specialized
in Tan-on-red, Black carved, and in polychrome wares.
This piece represents one
of the more rare "black on black" pieces produced by
Blue Corn.
What an elegant shape and
lovely size!
